Reid - 12/30/2016

Reid ate malt-o-meal cereal and raisins for breakfast.  For lunch he ate ground beef, LOTS of whole wheat elbow noodles, ate mixed fruit, and LOTS of applesauce.  He was talking about having short sleeves today and said, "I hate long sleeves!"  Ha!  Why?  "Cause you have to pull them up!"  Yup, that can be quite a chore all right!  :)

About 10:00 Sophie asked, "What are we having for Snack?"  Ha!  So I gave my standard answer; "Food."  And she asked the standard question; "What kind of food?"  :)  Reid said, "Elbow noodles and Flute."  (Fruit)  :)

He was telling me a long story about sledding and I was getting most of the story.  I especially liked the part about "I really allergic to going off the top!"  Haha!!  But then he said something about going without his pants on!  Well that's what I heard!!  "I had on no pants!!"  What?!  No pants!?!  He said, "NOOO!!.....no pants!!"  (snow pants)  LOL!  Later, I was asking for clarification on yet another story and he said, "Let's just not say anything!!  Let's just go!"  Ha!  I have no idea where we were going!!

He was talking to Lauralea while she was eating breakfast and then he said, "Let's play the hiding game!"  So he got under the dining table.  "Gary, now you can find me!  I'm not in the Lunch Room. I'm under the table!"  Ha!  Well thanks for the hint!  Later, he was observing Sophie play hide-n-seek with Avi and Bubba!  Reid offered this bit of advice;  You gotta count to 99 not 3!!"  Ha!! Actually she was counting to 4!  It was nice to have everyone back today!!

Reid - 12/22/2016

Reid ate half of raisin english muffin and a LOT of blueberries for breakfast.  For lunch he ate several slices of turkey, ate half of flat bread, 7 green beans (ha), and ate his strawberries.

I had Miss Amanda come back and sing songs for us again and the kids enjoyed singing Christmas songs with her.  In the 2nd picture from left to right it's Reid, Kenzie, Bode, Sophie, Riley, and Avilene on the mattress.  Baby Nora was sleeping and Hudson was hiding out!  :)

Reid was looking at this picture on the wall and said, "I love you!!"  I asked him who he was talking to and he went back up and pointed.  To himself!!  I love this kid!!  I sing this song to the kids and it's helps them learn to spell their names.  So this morning I started it like this; "There was a Mommy had a girl and..."  Reid continued, "And Gary was her name."  The boy makes me laugh!!  Then he was telling me a story about finding a "har" in the night sky.  (star)  He said, "Is a har supposed to fly!?" And Tate said, "No, that an airplane!"  :)

Sophie and Reid were playing on the couch and this made me laugh.  He was trying to teach Sophie how to go off the couch head-first.  Uhhh, it's a bit farther to the floor for her than it is for you Reid!!  In the first picture she's telling him to "QUIT pushing me" with his feet.  So then he has to demonstrate the proper head-first technique again!  Ha!

I want to wish all of Reid's Family a Merry Christmas!  I sure love having Reid at Little Treasures and he is a joy to care for!  We are spending Christmas Eve in Ronan where my Mom now lives and where my Sister lives.  Then Christmas Day we'll be at Plains with Lauralea's Family.  See you back at Little Treasures on Tuesday the 27th.

Reid - 12/21/2016

Reid ate three servings of jelly toast and three servings of mangoes for breakfast.  For lunch he had bite of chicken, rice, bean burrito, ate sweet potatoes (under protest), and three servings of tropical fruit.  He didn't like the burrito (and that's not a problem). but just wanted to fill up on tropical fruit.  I told him he had to eat his sweet potatoes before he could get more tropical fruit.  So he did, but not without an "UGH!"  Ha!

I let the "older" kids (Reid, Riley, Kenzie) get extra exercise by playing in the hall.  They like running and sliding on the hardwood floor.  I figure as long as it's cold outside that gives them a bit more area to burn off some energy!

Sophie was sitting on the "bump" on the couch.  That's what we call the "arm" of the couch.  It reminded me of a story so I told Reid that one time we had a little girl about Sophie's age that was sitting on the bump of the couch, fell off, and broke her arm.  (It was AWFUL!)  Anyhow, Reid listened and said, "I'm tougher than her!"  LOL  But this story was not about you, it was about her!! "I tougher than her."  Haha!!

He said, "Get it; got it; good!"  What's that about?  "Bode teach me."  (Ok, but that still didn't answer my question!!)  Then he tossed a little stuffed animal and tried to get Avi to "fetch" it!  Haha!  Good job of ignoring him Avilene!

Reid - 12/20/2016

Reid ate three servings of cinnamon rolls and two or three bites of canned prunes for breakfast.  For lunch he ate most of scrambled eggs and hash browns, ate a pile of waffles, and a bushel of cantaloupe.  I measured how much liquid he drank at breakfast and it was 20 ounces!  Wow!  A glass of almond milk and two glasses of water.  He asked for water again about 10:00.  When he is playing hard he frequently asks for water.

Reid was pretending that the shapes in the containers were his "dynamite."  He said, "Do you remember when Cooper and I used to fill these (shape buckets) with dynamite!?!"  Then he was setting up "targets" and dropping the dynamite on his "targets!"  Hudson was totally watching with great interest!!!  :)

Reid was playing with the food toys and then he started dropping some of them on Avilene.  I asked him what he was doing!?!  He said, "It raining corn-bobs!"  (corn-cobs!)  Haha!  Well, let's not do that even though Avilene doesn't seem to care that corn-bobs are falling on her!!

Sophie said, "I Mickey Mouse, that (Hudson) Pluto, that (Avilene) Goofy, that (Reid) Minnie Mouse."  I guess Reid didn't like his designation!!  He said, "I don't want to play that!"  Ha!  Sophie was not deterred!  Next it was like this; "I Daisy, that (Hudson) Donald Duck," and Reid was still "Minnie Mouse!"  Ha!

I just posted this first picture so Momma Lesley could see Reid covered with his substitute blue blanket!  (He's laying on his tummy looking at this book.  Ha!)

This cracked me up!  I took this picture when Reid was grabbing the bear by the ears and saying, "You made a big mistake!"  And then head-butting the bear!!  Ha!

Reid - 12/19/2016

Reid ate bites of kix cereal and LOTS of mixed fruit for breakfast.  For lunch he ate two servings of pulled pork sandwich, ate peas, and three servings of mandarin  oranges.

Right after Reid and Bode arrived this morning Reid said, "Do not go outside; it smell like raw beef out there!!"  LOL!  No idea where that came from.  (Bode had no idea either!)  Then later Reid was telling me a story about him and Bode.  "Hey Gary! Me and Bode were lapping plants in our house for other people!"  Lapping plants!?!  What!?!  Repeat and repeat!  Can you show me?  Reid said, "If you had a tree I could!!"  LOL!  OH!!  Wrapping presents!!  Haha!  His explanations to help me understand are so cool!  He does a good job with that!

I took this picture when Reid saw I'd stuck Sophie's barrette in my hair after I fixed her hair!  Ha!!  Reid and Sophie were yelling for me to take it out!  Ha!!

They did lots of jumping on the mattress and here is Reid flying off the igloo!  After lots of play he said, "I need water, I need water, I need water."  OK!  Here's some water!  He said, "Oh thank you, thank you!  That gave me energy!!"  So cute and so silly!

Reid and Sophie asked to do some puzzles.  While they were out there Sophie started talking about her Birthday.  She said something about "my birthday."  Reid was telling her that wasn't happening for a long time.  He said, "It gonna be a long day!!"  LOL  She said, "Tomorrow is my birthday!" Reid said, "No, tomorrow is Christmas!"  Haha!

Reid - 12/16/2016

Reid ate raisins for breakfast; no brown rice.  For lunch he ate meatballs, flat bread, bite of carrots, and ate most of apricots.  Apparently I was singing too loud when I was setting up lunch.  Reid said, "Gary, I think the people from New York can hear that!"  Ha!

Daddy Colin came and got Hudson while we were still having breakfast.  After they were gone Reid slid Hudson's empty highchair over beside the table and said, "Say hi to Bubba!!"  That made me laugh!"  Reid has a very funny sense of humor!!  I was telling him that Hudson puked yesterday afternoon and again last night.  (The reason Hudson had to go home.)  Reid said, "Wow! He got a lot of germ in him!!"

Here's a scenario from this morning that hit my funny bone!  I was just beginning to change Avilene's poopy diaper and Sophie asked (as she's watching me change the diaper!), "Hey Gary! Can you read books to me?!?"  Well I'm a bit busy at the moment.  I'd already put Baby Nora's bottle in the bottle warmer to heat up and she was yelling because she was hungry.  Meanwhile Reid, who's working on his art, comes to the gate and yells, "Hey Gary! Can you make a hole in the Ginger Bread Man!?"  Well I'm a bit busy at the moment.  As I was finishing up cleaning Avilene, Reid again yells from the lunch room; "Gary! You're taking for ages!!"  LOL!!  Is that the same as taking forever??  Here's a picture of Reid's final Ginger Bread man!  He said, "Hey look Gary!  He got shot everywhere!"  LOL!  Nothing says Christmas like a Ginger Bread Man shot full of holes!!

By the way, if you see me backing the car up to your front door and loading up some meat from your freezer, I want you to know that Reid told me to help myself!!  He said, "Gary, if you need meat you can come to our house.  We have tons of meat!!  We have 39 pieces of meat!!"  I'm just trying to decide if I should bring sacks or be a piggy and bring boxes!!  :)

Reid - 12/15/2016

Reid ate three servings of cinnamon toast and ate three servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch he ate baked chicken, some of dinner roll, half of hash browns, and LOTS of canned cherries.

Hudson was playing on the mattress with Reid and Reid yelled, "Gary! I (s)niffed his butt!!  Bubba poopy!!"  Then after I changed him Reid said, "I can (s)nell that garbage diaper!!"  Ha!  Also about Hudson - when he and his Daddy Colin arrived this morning Reid was teasing them and said, "You missed breakfast."  (Which is pretty much Reid's biggest fear in life!)

I do ok understanding what Reid is saying except when he starts talking about "Minecraft" game or something where I have no context of the subject matter!  He was telling me a HUGE story about playing Minecraft last night and it totally sounded like he was speaking a foreign language!! About the only thing I understood was this: "Do you know how I blow up Zombie Bonner?!?" No, I really have no idea!  "I put TNT on em!!"  LOL

Reid was throwing the stuffed animals at a target he'd set up.  So I simply said we couldn't throw toys because the Babies don't understand the difference between "soft" toys and "hard" toys and they'll throw anything!  Apparently Reid was thinking about that because several minutes later he decided it was time to school Hudson!  He brought over a stuffed animal and a large legos piece.  "I'm gonna teach him what's hard and what's (s)oft!"  Except I was standing there with the Lunch tray and Hudson was focused on the food!  So it wasn't the best of times for a lesson!  "Bubba! This is hard (legos) and this is (s)oft!" (stuffed animal)  Hudson said, "oh."  Ha!

This first picture is from yesterday afternoon.  There was a Bobcat Excavator in our yard doing some work for that Fiber Optics cable they're running to the schools.  Reid watched from the Living Room window most of the time they were out there.

Playing with some of his Action Figures.  He is very sweet about letting the little ones play with them as well.  Good job Reid.

Reid - 12/14/2016

Reid ate most of whole wheat bagel and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch he ate ham, a bushel of whole wheat elbow noodles, ate corn, and applesauce.  He and Sophie were discussing the movie "Finding Nemo" and then "Finding Dory."  Reid said, "We have Finding Dory."  Sophie said, "We have Finding Dory too!"  Reid said, "We have Finding Dory one!!"  LOL

Today Reid just randomly started talking about the Church you go to now.  (We hadn't talked about this previously.)  He said, "We have been to every Church!  We have been to so many Churches!!  The Church we go to now is Cross Point.  10 Hours to get there and 10 Hours to get home!"  LOL!  So I came to two conclusions after listening to Reid: 1. You attend a Church in Portland, Oregon.  2.  Your primary decision on Church selection had something to do with doughnuts!!  (That pretty much guides my doctrine too!!  Ha!)

Reid yelled to Sophie; "Come here Hofie!!"  So Sophie headed over to where he wanted to show her some tricks his Captain America toys were doing!  He said, "Look how this one landed!!"  (He has 4 of them, but only 1 is in the picture.)  Meanwhile, Sophie has gotten distracted by this cute girl in the mirror and has stopped to have a conversation with her!!  Ha!  So stinking cute!!

Reid and Sophie built a nice block structure this morning using a pattern that was left over from yesterday that Kenzie and Riley had started.  They worked very hard at building it and used all the blocks!

Reid - 12/13/2016

Reid ate three servings of waffle and two servings of pears for breakfast.  For lunch he ate two servings of tuna & crackers, ate half of sweet potatoes, and three servings of mandarin oranges.  At the lunch table Reid said, "You are like a two-face man."  What!!?!!  Well I'll have you know I try hard to never be like that!  Haha!  He was looking cross-eyed at me.  He said, "Well actually you have two bodies and three arms."

I thought this was cute when Hudson was searching hard in Reid's backpack for more toys.  Reid did a good job sharing his toys with everyone!!

Reid was the last one eating breakfast and when he came out he asked, "Where's the big Captain America shield?"   So I showed him this picture below that I took while he was still eating:  "Here's the last time I saw the big shield and Avi was headed in that direction so it's somewhere on that side of the room."  Ha!  Reid found it in the play sink.  :)   And he thought this picture was funny.

For whatever reason the kids all think watching me change a poopy diaper is entertainment.  They get on top of the block storage bin and watch.  (Including Kenzie and Riley when they are here after school!)  This morning Reid watched me change Bubba's diaper for a few seconds and went over and started playing on the mattress.  He said, "I smell it over here."  Well later in the morning Avilene was poopy and Reid, along with Sophie, climbed up to watch!  Reid said, "I'm staying for all of this one!" LOL!!  Cracked me up and I laughed hard!

Reid - 12/12/2016

Reid was only here until 10:00, but I have a couple of notes I'll Blog about him.  For breakfast he ate several bites of chex cereal and a LOT of mixed fruit!

Bode and Reid had fun playing this morning and Bode said the nicest thing about his brother Reid!  He said, "Reid always looks on the bright side!"  I thought that was so cool and so sweet!  And, for  the most part I would agree!  :)

Nothing too much to say about this picture except Reid called this "photo bombing!"   Silly Reid!  He is such a cute kid - even in a silly picture!  Ha!

He was trying to explain a few characters to me this morning.  He asked me if I knew what a zombie looks like.  Nope.  "Well they look like a man without a shirt and his pants are all teared (tore) up!" Haha!  Ok.  I'll keep my eyes open!

Reid - 12/9/2016

Reid ate oatmeal and two servings of canned prunes for breakfast.  I had to coax him to touch the prune to his lips and then he said it tasted like "berries."  Ha!  He's ate them before, but it's been a few weeks.  Then he asked for another serving!!  For lunch he ate hash brown casserole, two biscuits, and three servings of mandarin oranges.  At lunch he asked, "Hey Gary!  Is Sophie in charge?"  No.  "She always say that; I in charge!!"  :)

Also at breakfast I was singing "The Iditarod Trail" song and Sophie asked, "Can you read us books?"  Then during Story Time we were reading a book about nocturnal animals.  Sophie said, "My Mom not like bats, but I do."  Reid said, "My Mom hates them!"  Ha!

Whenever Reid drops his blanket Hudson will frequently take it to him.  I took this picture when Hudson was trying to hand the blanket to Reid.  Reid was engrossed in his play and said, "You can lay it down Bubba."  Ha!  However, Hudson really wanted Reid to take it!!  After all that's how it usually works!!  The Bubba boy loves his routines!!

If you look closely at the picture Reid has positioned a lego (Mickey Mouse Lego) directly in the path of the car ramp.  He said, "This is gonna be a target and the target is Mickey Mouse!!"  Ha!  I like how you think Reid!  :)

We used a box and a blanket this morning and had a whole new place to play!  Sophie said it was her house and Hudson played in there with her.  I guess Reid believed her because later he asked Sophie if he could play in her house!  :)  That lasted until Reid came out from under the blanket and said, "It stink in there!"  LOL! And he was right!

Reid - 12/8/2016

Reid ate a couple bites of raisin english muffin and LOTS of cantaloupe for breakfast.  For lunch he ate lots of turkey slices, half of dinner roll, a few green beans I put on his plate, and three servings of mangoes.  I was singing "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" at breakfast and Reid said, "Can you stop singing that!?!"  (After about the 6th time.)  Why?  "It kind of getting boring!"  LOL

You had to leave fairly quickly this morning Lesley and poor Reid had to take off his shoes and coat without assistance!  Poor fellow!  He said, "This is more than I expected!"  Hahaahahaa!!  Well Reid I certainly hope it doesn't exhaust you too much!!  :)

Reid was pretending to thump Avi and Hudson with the Big Bear's feet and they were getting a kick out of his attention.  (He was saying, "jackhammer, jackhammer, jackhammer....")  Then he wanted to hide under the bears and asked; "Put bear on me so no one can see me."  (Not really "asking," but he said it kindly!  Ha!)  Avi and Hudson were looking to see what happened to Reid!!

I was helping Reid work on his "R's" and "S's" this morning.  The R's are much easier for him to say as you already know.  However, the R's will come out like L's if he doesn't go slow.  He told me about playing "Rock Paper Scissors" in the car with Tate and Bode.  Now that took a minute to figure out what he was saying.  Sounded like "lock, paper, here."  I can't think of a harder word for him to say than "scissors!!"  (4 of those stinking S's!!)  In the picture below he asked for the "cars and big lamp." But he could say "ramp" when he slowed down.

Reid - 12/7/2016

Reid ate whole wheat toast and LOTS of blueberries for breakfast.  For lunch he ate lots of ham, ate crackers, bite of bean & bacon soup, and two servings of strawberries.  I can hear Reid's older brothers, especially Tate, in several of the remarks that Reid makes.  Today he was doing some wrestling with the Big Bears and said, "I do it like a Boss!!"  LOL

At breakfast I was hoisting Avi up to her highchair and had my arm around her middle.  Reid said, "Wth your arm around it (it?), it look like she have a big belly...with a bone in it!!"  Ha!  What a goofy sucker!  And that's another one of the things I love about children - all the hilarious things they say.  I have a journal of humorous quotes from many years of Child Care!

Reid was "hiding" under the legos table when Avilene spotted him.  She'd been trying to take his toys and he was being so sweet about it.  He wouldn't give her the ones he had (which was good), but he'd find her another one just like it!  And take it to her.

Reid sat in the sink and said, "I gotta sit in this tea pot!"  LOL  Goofy sucker!  Maybe that's from our Story when the Fox is hiding in the tea pot.  Except there's not much "hiding" in the tea pot that Reid chose here!  :)

Not much to say about this picture, but I liked how his cap was over one ear and one ear out!  So cute!  He is such a good looking young chap!  :)  Reid was looking through a "viewfinder" toy and found a picture of a rock arch like what you see in Arches National Park.  He got excited and said, "You need to look at this!!  We went on road trip and found this!!"  Isn't that cute?

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

Reid - 12/6/2016

Reid ate two servings of bagel and a couple bites of apricots for breakfast.  For lunch he ate chicken, lots of whole wheat elbow noodles, peas, and two servings of applesauce.  I always have the kids pull up their sleeves to wash and then leave them pulled up when they eat.  Reid said, "At our house after we wash we pull our sleeves back down."  LOL  It was so cute and hit my funny bone!!   At lunch Sophie was cozied up to Reid and kept looking at him.  He said, "Stop looking at me and look at Monte."  (As he pointed at the Monte poster.  Ha!)

I'm including a couple of "group" pictures today.  They haven't all been together for several days and maybe that's the reason they played in close proximity to each other for a long time this morning.  Avi is on the left, Reid is upside down, you can see the back of Hudson's head, and Sophie is in the background.  In the 2nd "group" picture I thought it was so cute how the 4 of them were all huddled around the legos creation.  Reid was mostly concerned about Avilene grabbing the legos but she did awesome and never touched them once!  Reid said, "Avi might wreck it."  Then he looked at her and said, "You do your own Avi."  Ha! A few minutes later Hudson was spinning around and around for a long time.  He plopped down backwards and set right on the legos creation!  Smash! Ha!  Sophie was the only one left playing with it, but she just laughed.  Probably because I was laughing so hard - it looked hilarious!  Reid said, "Bubba make explosion!"

Nice form in this picture Reid!  Ha!!  That's just how we draw it up at Daycare!!  Earlier in the morning Reid said, "I wish I could pick up this big guy and move it!"  What big guy?  He points at the couch!  Hahahaha!  I guess it was in his way or something!  Where would you like to move it to?  He said, "Up there!" and points at the changing table.  :)

Reid - 12/2/2016

Reid ate malt-o-meal cereal and raisins for breakfast.  For lunch he ate ground beef, lots of whole wheat elbow noodles, applesauce, and mixed fruit.  As soon as Reid was done with breakfast he asked if he could do some art.

I'm loving having him here today.  Here are some Reid-isms from this morning;
I pointed out the fact that someone crashed into Big Willy's gate and kind of bent it and now it's open and will not shut.  Reid said, "That will be good; he can walk through whenever he want!"  LOL!!
Some workers put out a (diamond shaped) warning sign that reads; "Utility workers Ahead!"  Reid looked at it and said, "That actually a kite!"  Ha!  Yep, it's shaped like one!!
I told Hudson (whining because I had to change his poopy diaper), "No whining at Gary's house." Reid said, "He already know that."  Oh, you're right.  I just told him that a few minutes ago.  Ha!

Here's a picture of Reid spraying water on his art and on Hudson's art.  Actually he was already done spraying, but he was pretending so I could take a picture.  (Notice the cute grin!)  Nicely done Reid!

I was putting some applesauce on Reid's noodles at lunch and he said, "You made a S."  Except I couldn't figure it out and I asked, "F?"  "No."  "X?"  "No."  So he got up, walked to Sophie's name on her cubby, pointed at the "S" and said, "Right here."  I love how well he works at helping me understand what he's saying!  That's great problem solving!

Reid was trying to jam one of the big bears into the igloo and Hudson was working really hard to help him.  Except Reid wasn't convinced that Hudson was much help.  He told Bubba; "Don't take it out; push it in!"  Ha!
